Listening to Music for All Occasions and What a Crying Shame recently, I really think The Mavericks were one of the few bands to straddle the mainstream country and alternative country worlds successfully. Raul Malo's solo career has been a little inconsistent, but I'd rank his 2010 release Sinners and Saints right up there with the best of his Mavericks stuff.
